There are no doubts concerning the quality of Czech glass and the skill of Czech glassmakers. This is why we have decided to include in our special project – the production of spittoons – a small Czech glassworks which goes by the name of Svoboda.
Mr Jaroslav Svoboda, who founded the glassworks in 1990, is a retired university lecturer who devotes his time to the revival of old glassmaking techniques for hand-made production, designing glassware as well as glass art.
Glass artists regularly take turns to bring their glass designs to life in the Svoboda glassworks which lie in the Vysočina region, in the village of Karlov. This is where the black glass used for the KLARET Spittoon is hand-blown in a wooden mould.
